Last month, at the Detroit Auto Show, there were a number of exciting Honda-related announcements, but there was one that really caught people’s attention: the 2019 Honda Insight. This new Honda car will be a premium hybrid sedan with excellent fuel efficiency. Here at our Honda dealership in Aberdeen, WA, we couldn’t be any more excited about this upcoming vehicle, and it promises an intriguing blend of efficiency, cargo space, and style.

If you’re a keen follower of Honda automobiles, you’ll recall that this isn’t the first time that Honda has used the Insight name for a hybrid vehicle. The original Honda Insight debuted in 1999 and was the first ever hybrid car to be sold in America. It returned as a five-door hatchback in 2010 and enjoyed a five-year run. For the new version, Honda is learning from the past to create what will be its best hybrid car to date.

The new 2019 Honda Insight will use the latest configuration of the Honda hybrid system, which is a combination of two electric motors and a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, plus lithium-ion batteries. This will not be a plug-in hybrid, so the engine is used as a generator to recharge the batteries, but it can also kick in to provide additional power when needed. Looking inside the cabin, the Honda Insight will contain an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® integration.
